how do i make windows 8 look like windows 98

no i dont use windows 8 (except for a vm) but i dont wanna do this on my main machine, i used to have a nice retro vm but lost it when reinstalling windows...sad

Preposterous. Metro is hard-coded into the machine, one doth not simply 'make Windows 8 look more like Windows 98'; lest you have experience. In this case, it is impossible to modify Windows 8 or 10 in such ways.

IIRC there is something called openshell that is probably the place to start. I refuse to touch anything beyond windows 7 so I can't say how far it can get you.

Yeah, Win10 is updated almost every month/week. So by touching any binaries, you risk crashing your entire framework if you modify a lot.
