AIM 5.1 wont start up

So im on windows 8.1 and when i try to launch AIM it crashes my desktop multiple times until i close aim which doesnt even have a window when i launch it, can anyone help?
I like making videos that look like they are from 2007, and my real online name is Joyconnizant.
