5.1 refuses to start

I have a windows 10 and i installed the 5.1 client. I click it, it does the "cursor with an hourglass beside it" and then everything seems to go back to normal. actually, everything freezes up and i have to use aim tamer to fix it. no matter how long i wait it never opens. what do i do?
