well all I see here is the tool to kill the AIM process when it "misbehaves", you are going to have to be more specific than that, this is a really old program so it doesn't always play well with new windows.

IMO it's nearly impossible to run 5.9 or 5.1 on modern windows. use 5.0 and you should be fine.
