i got an instant message saying "Your screenname (E4d039) is now signed on in 2 locations. Reply with 1 to sign off at other locations"

but im not signed in 2 locations

it's possible that maybe during logging out, internet connection failure, or perhaps the AIM client or even your computer crashing, the AIM Phoenix server may have not properly logged you out of the system which basically ghosted your instance. It's safe to reply with "1" to terminate the ghosted session.
