No, it's not dead, it's just in a holding pattern pending a new release. There's no corrupt time frame for that other than "soon".

The server gets shut off for whatever reason, whether it be that it crashed or that it was shut off just because, and it usually isn't tended to unless iWarg notices, which is quite some time.
